Default diff between 05

I sold my 05 and now have an 06. Dealt with some problems with the 05 over the last two years and it has really high miles, but primary reason for getting a new ride was my grandson who grew to over 6' and was cramped in the back seat. The 06 is a "L" and he's a happy camper.

However, I can't figure out a couple things. Pressing "systems the "CAR" brings up a submenu with parking, lighting a few other things. On the 05 one of the options was "instrument" cluster. That is not an option on the 06. Two pictures of MMI (scroll up and down) shown. Is it possible the PO changed the option with a VAGCOM, etc? Is that something I can access through the hidden menu?

My 05 heated steering wheel got warm when the seat heater was turned on. looking in the book, there is supposed to be a switch on the steering spoke. I can't find it which prompts me to think this car doesn't have that feature. However, I swear it was on the other day. There was a definitely a difference in the warmth of the wheel from the spokes. I was wondering if the heated seats were turned on but they weren't. Does anyone know what manufacturing "code" applies to the heated steering wheel? I'm thinking if it has heated seats, the wheel would be part of a "cold weather" package. Picture of original build label posted below.

If I recall, heated seats are standard, and the cold weather package includes heated steering wheel, rear heated seats, and a ski passthrough.

Steering wheel heat comes on with the seat, but if the cabin temp is below 50F or something like that.

I believe you can enable instrument cluster through the hidden menu (CAR+SETUP) or with VCDS. I enabled my 05 to show it (I think it is called Bordcomputer in the hidden menu). The setting is in Group 07 - Control Head.

So, did you ever check to see that you did have the cold weather package?

Default No heating in 3-spoke steering wheels

If you have the Sport Package (with the three spoke steering wheel), the steering wheel will not be heated. Why? Maybe Audi thought it’s Sport customers all wore driving gloves.

Lol, driving gloves made sense when the steering wheels were wood and turning at low speeds so heavy that you'd get callouses if you didn't wear them.

I don't have the three spoke wheel. Front and back seats are heated. (front also have air cooled). My assumption is heated seats are part of the cold whether package. My book says there should be a button on the left lower steering wheel spoke but there is none. If I put the heated seats on, the wheel does not get warm. Perhaps, I don't have the heated wheel option but i swear it was warm to the touch last week. I could definitely feel the difference in temp between the wheel circumference and the spokes which were cold to the touch.

Maybe because i played football in high school 50 yrs ago, Audi knew this and considered me to be a "sport". They also looked in a crystal ball in 2006 to see that i'd own this car someday and not need it. Wrong Mr. Audi, I do want it. I hate wearing gloves.
