That Q7 is moving about 1/5 the speed of what I normally see in a U.S. parking garage. The traffic sign recognition on the car is a complete fail (who at Audi decided stop signs aren't important), so I'm not sure I would trust this thing to handle non-standard scenarios like a person's personal assistance wombat getting loose at the airport and the Q7 running it over.

Exactly! Have you seen BMWs self park feature where you can move the car in and out of a tight parking space using the fancy key fob? Its like watching ice melt!!! I'd much rather park in the tight space and get out from the moonroof to be quite honest.

It's meant for places like garages, mine is a perfect example. I'd love to have this feature because I park in a garage where I can open my door just enough to get out. I lined the wall with padding, I still open the door like it's a sleeping baby.
Being able to hit a button and have the car drive itself out of my garage would be a huge advantage.

Maybe the facelift version will have this but at the moment A8 has this. Car should be able to park itself rather than just move forward or back.
I was being funny, there is certainly value to it for some people. As a matter of fact, just last night we went our for dinner and I parked in an underground garage where the pillars wouldn't allow the back seat passengers to get in or out.

BMW charges about $750 for that feature which also gives you a fancier key fob. May be very worth it for some who are frequently in tight situations
