Radio continue to play even ignition is off
Just throwing this out there to see if all Q5 Radio continue to play even if the ignition is switch off (no key in ignition)
Turn off your radio and removed key from ignition then turn radio back on bam radio is still receiving power to play.
Is the Q5 was built this way or is it just my Q5.
Thanks

With the ignition off, if you don't open the door, the radio plays for about 10 minutes, then turns off. However, you can still turn it back on again by using the button on the center console volume control.

Funny, on mine (AMI not MMI, there's no such thing as just a "radio" in the Q5) the radio goes off with the ignition. Yes, I can still turn the radio back on by turning the ignition back on without restarting the engine--but the radio is killed as soon as the ignition goes off. Which I find a RFPITA if I just wanted to listen to the end of a song before getting out.

Yah that's kind of cheesy of them removing that on the Ami Q5's, not exactly "budget" machines.Going back to my 97 I could continue listening to sound, back then it was 8 Track. What I really miss is the ignition off 12V charging & lighter sockets.Great for cell phones.

A long long time ago, I was pissed off that the power windows in my dealer demo didn't work unless the engine was on. So I opened the dash panel and moved the power window lead to a battery hot spare fuse, instead of the igntion hot one they were normally on. Co-incidentally I was the one who sold the car a couple of months later, and since that was supposed to be a safety item I told the folks "the windows are only supposed to work when the ignition is on, but don't worry we'll put that back for you, its just moving one wire" and they said HELL NO! They *liked* being in control too.
I have a couple of extra fuse "sockets" to install in the fuse panel, just haven't really felt like pulling things apart to get in there. I'm either going to move the ciggy power lead, or just add a couple of new ones to constant power, and a couple of microUSB regulated leads at the same time. I just can't find any truly elegant spots to install a couple of new sockets, where they won't get bumped, won't make big holes...you know, truly elegant seamless installation. What can I say, sometimes I'm truly slow.

Either there's a hidden programming choice, or you could move a supply wire on the fuse rack. Problem there being it changes a whole rack, unselectively. Still...it just means moving wires. If you stumble across it again...if not, enjoy the beer.
