Default 2018 SQ5 rear (fake) exhaust diffuser

Hello All - first post here....just took delivery of my new to me but used with 3k miles SQ5....wow I'm in love with this car. My biggest problem with it right now is that ugly af rear exhaust diffuser that is also fake. Don't know what they were thinking to put that on the car, it boggles my mind. Are there any alternatives out there yet?

It is funny that a few different people (that own Audi's) have said to me "Have you seen the new SQ5 exhaust, it looks cool" and they are shocked when I tell them that it's not real.
The good news is you never have to clean the soot from them. Enjoy and Welcome!

Wow really!? Oh okay that's great then, I was really only worried about offending the people who have to drive behind me, of which there will be many Thanks for the welcome! Happy to be here!

To be frank, I think about the fake exhaust just about the exact number of times it is discussed here. It's just not something I think about or worry about. I have the newer fake exhaust which has the pattern throughout the entire exhaust, so it looks less fake I suppose. Otherwise, I just drive the car to and fro, enjoying every minute of it. And again, it is one less thing to maintain and keep clean if that makes it less frustrating. YMMV.

Many of us black out the entire area with vinyl or plastidip. It no longer looks like fake exhaust that way and just part of the bumper. YMMV of course.

Newer fake exhaust? Did they change it within the model year 2018? Mine has the diagonal lines running through (what I think is supposed to represent) the exhaust tips. Is yours also like that?

Correct, apparently it use to be just a blank plastic spot. The pattern they added makes it look MUCH better IMO.

yes, 100% why i couldnt give a damn about the fake exhaust tips. i spent significant time cleaning 2 out of 4 tips on my '14 SQ5. i am overtly happy with the current configuration.

Has the plastidip been holding up for you? I've been going back and forth with plastidipping it myself or getting it vinyl wrapped satin black.
