Default Chrome Exhaust Tip Finish Not Holding Up

Hey everyone,

I did a 1 year maintenance wash on my mother's Q7 yesterday, and came across a problem. I usually clean the exhaust tips every 3rd wash, or whenever I get a chance, and this time I noticed the finish was wearing off. Has anyone else experienced this? It obviously isn't worth bringing up to the service department until the next scheduled service, but I am wondering if they will cover this sort of thing under warranty. The car has 15k miles, so it is a bit alarming to see this happening so soon. I have a '17 VW GTI with 17k miles, and it puts black crap all over the tips within 50 miles and have had no problems with this when cleaning.

Thanks in advanced,
Matt

The tips on my TDi with 88k miles look virtually brand new.

I have the same issue. Chrome plating must be microscopically thin.

Should be covered under warranty, but that's crazy still

I wish this will be the case, but I have my doubts about whether they will accept responsibility for this issue or not. " Audi doesn't recommend using abrasive cleaners, etc., etc."

Happened to my S5, Audi would not cover it. Got an SQ5, kind of solved the problem (no exhaust tips).

Hmmm guess I'll put my stock tips for sale since there might be a market for it.
