Default Tires on the Q8

Deciding on wheel and tire insurance. Year one package has the 22” wheels and I will be ordering the year one package.

They wanted 2k for 5 years of unlimited wheel and tire insurance. I decided to see how expensive the tires. They are over 400 dollars each. I sure hope they are durable !

anyone have experience with these tires good or bad ?

What kind of tire? What wheel diameter? How bad are the roads where the car will be operated? Your personal history with damage on other vehicles?

I’m in NY on Ling Island. The roads suck during the winter and shortly after. Then they patch them horribly when it warms up ensuring the same holes plus any new ones will reappear next winter.

The wheels i had were 20” with 40 series Michelin MXV tires. The new wheels are the year one 22” wheels with 40 series continental LX sport tires.

My my personal history is in 36 months I went through 5 tires to road hazard (mostly bubbles in the side walls ) and 3 rim repaired and one replaced.

Moon craters are are an understatement

I live in Northern New Jersey, with the 22 inch tires, I recommend going with the tire and rim package. It's worth it especially if you need to repair/replace the rim. The tire is a new design all-season for Audi in 22 inches.

That's not good. I feel your statement needs to provide direction on what you do going forward.

The smaller diameter wheel + tall sidewall is going to handle these conditions much better.

I was concerned about the 22” rims but after posting and the fact l love the year one package. I was on the fence between the AMG GLE 450 / 580 and the Q8 prestige and the year one package along with it being a totally new flagship swayed me. The MB is 50 or 55 series tires witch was a plus but after extensive test driving and list making, the looks on the Q8 got my vote and I had the only vote .

Default Tires

I have a year one edition prestige. I’ve owned it since December 2018. I have the 22” with Summer/ performance tires. They will wear considerably faster than highway tires. But they grip unbelievably. That being said I live in Houston and the summer seams like 11 outta twelve months.
Hope that helps you to make your decision.

Those are good numbers. Just be sure it’s for replacement of rims and tires as these cannot be fixed or plugged. Was quoted at Huntington.

Yes. He sent a pdf with the specifics. The first part was tires only the second set of numbers were tires and rims. He says it the same as Audi. I am going to print it out and take it with me to closing, and see if they match.
