Junkyard? Surely there are some wrecks out there. Check with a local body shop They have a network for used part searches.

Value pricing. To be fair, that is the complete headlight washing "robot" assembly as the cap/cover is not sold separately. Plus, the body shop has to prime, paint and clear coat the generic cover to match your vehicle. And the paint has to be diluted with flexing solution as that part flexes a bit.

Have someone operate your headlight washers while you watch and you'll understand why it's an expensive assembly. German vehicle service parts are usually marked up 2.5x from OEM assembly line prices.

So, get one from a junkyard and likely spend another $100.00-200.00 for an independent body shop paint it for you. Price varies if they have the paint or not. I've paid about $300.00 for a quart of Pearlescent paint for my D3 A8L. Plus primer, base coat and clear. It looks like this is not Pearl so hopefully less.

Of course if that's just a cap then, well, that's the price of driving a nice vehicle. Part plus the painting fee.

it's just the cap.
I understand that it's a pricy car but $800 for a little piece of plastic is a little extreme.
i'll check junk yard to see

None of the Q5 / SQ5 North American models have headlight washing. It's one of the features Audi corporate decided we didn't need here. I guess they figured there's no mud here.

Let us know your experience on finding a junkyard for used parts. Might be useful to many of us down the road on odds and ends. Can't imagine how you "lost" it in the first place. Seems like a possible manufacturing defect that let it fall out. When I first looked at your post on my phone I thought it was the whole right side plastic piece. I was floored when I viewed it on a PC and realized it's just the cap for $800. Makes me want to wrap the car in cellophane so nothing can touch it. Oh wait - that's what all the coatings are for. Wonder if any coating would have helped keep it in place. Next thing you know, we might have wheel trim falling off or something...

Don't forget that a body shop has wide access to junkyard and used parts for insurance repairs, and they can match the paint.
