S4 18" wheels on 2023 S5 Sportback
I'm looking to pick up some 18" wheels for my 2023 S5 Sportback for use in the winter. I've seen a number of used S4 wheels for sale. My question is will they fit? For example, S4 wheel 8W0601025EJ 8 is 18x8 et 40 while the stock S5 wheel is 19x8.5 et 32. Will the offset difference matter? Will it clear the brakes? Thanks.

Spoke shape can vary, but just looking at your current wheels, do you feel you have at least a 10mm of clearance between the spokes and calipers? If you don't, what's it going to be when you subtract 8mm from that gap?

Not a great idea. Offset impacts on steering geometry via scrub radius. Whilst I wouldn't say that using the S4's 8" ET40 wheel is going to result in the car slewing sideways if you brake hard in a turn, it isn't right. Although you would be going further negative by a further 7mm.(Audi's typically use somewhere around negative 8mm or so IIRC). Although Audi's tend to be very tolerant on scrub angle.
You could add spacers of course (8 to 10mm would be optimum) - you'll prefer the look, the geometry will be right, and you won't have any brake clearance issues.
You have a nice car, I wouldn't compromise on winter wheels / tyres. Arguably, these are even more important in terms of dynamics / safety than summer sets, as you are closer to grip limits in winter. Maybe look harder for OEM 18" versions for A5/S5? Most if not all of the A5 8.5X18" wheels will fit the S5 with it's larger brakes. By example, this wheel was commonly fitted to US market A5 models, is also fitted as a base wheel to the S5 in Germany and other markets, and you may be able to find it used:
