How to get into trunk with no battery?
My battery seems to have taken a quick dump. But with the battery in the trunk, and the trunk opening electrically, I can't get TO the battery to replace it. Since the trunk floor hinges at the front, I probably couldn't even crawl in from the cabin. Any ideas how to get access? (B8.5 S5)

You use the emergency trunk release cable. Either fold the seats down and get to it at the trunk lid. Or if the seats don't fold down, then it's under the seat bench on the left side.
You could also pop the hood and connect a power supply to the jump start posts to get power and just open it normally. Assuming the battery is not full defective or there's a short going on. You'll have to make sure it's enough juice to get the sustained voltage level back to over 12v.

Thanks for the response! I never found the release cable, but getting the trunk open was actually easy once I noticed the escape handle on the inside of the lid -- a broom handle opened it easily. Again, thanks for the assist.
Next question: how do I get the bracket above the battery (mounts the spare tire) off? Looks like an electronic box in front needs to be removed to get to the front bolts, but I haven't had any luck getting that off. Probably a simple thing only a German could understand.
Which is sad, given that I'm half German...

Not sure what's in there in a coupe. In my avant, I just remove the spare tire, then the jack holder that is on the front side of the bracket (there's a release clip you push to allow sliding the box upward off the bracket), then the subwoofer. Then bracket over the battery is held down by three nuts, iirc.
