Default 4.0T coolant pump 2 location?

Hello friends,
Got a 2013 A8L 4.0T. Recently found a fault code "18062 - Coolant Pump 2 P261A 00 [00100111] - Open circuit". Wondering if anyone know where this pump is located. Thank you in advance.

I forget where, but I think there are several threads on this very forum which cover that topic.
.
fwiw, there's a couple of coolant pumps throw codes regularly... one behind the cowl, and one in front of the front left wheel.

Just a quick update in case anyone else encounters this issue in the future. This pump is the coolant circulation pump 2 V178 that is located in the left rear side of the engine. Part# 079965561. PITA to get to…

Ah, the cowl pump...? Anyone who encounters that issue should do a quick search for the R&R on this. Well documented repair - one of the easiest DIY - with complete instructions available right here on the AudiWorld D4 forum.

If you are talking about V50 then it’s not that one.

From what I gather, P261A refers to the engine aux water pump, 8K0965567B / 059-121-012-A in addition to 079965561.

Yes? Whereabouts "in the left rear side of the engine".

No. That part# is for 4.2 engine not 4.0T. V178 is right above power steering pump and drive shaft.

I think we're getting lost in the weeds here, but according to that link to audiusa, the 059-121-012-A is in fact used in "A8 4.0L V8 A/T Quattro L Sedan 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016"

Don’t trust audiusa.com when verifying compatibility, use ETKA instead.

Yeah, and when trying to find the location of components, the Self Study guide is the place to look
