Windshield Washer Reservoir

First, I’m a me owner and and me member, so be gentle…🤣

I have a quick question for the group. I have a 2017 Q7 PP and the prior owner used RainX in the water system. So now I have to replace the reservoir and sensor, correct? If so, can someone provide the parts that I need to order to get this issue resolved. It’s current blocked completely, so I’m not getting washer fluid coming out anywhere at the moment.

Also, I’d obviously prefer order aftermarket parts if possible.

Can you hear the pump running? Did you check the fuse? I doubt RainX would clog the whole system. If it did, fill the reservoir with hot water and Dawn. Let it sit for a few minutes and try spraying. If it works, run it all through the system, refill with hot water and repeat.

If the pump runs but no squirt, just remove the pump from bottom of reservoir and clean it up as above. Worst case remove and clean the reservoir. The pump itself is a single replaceable piece and the seals on it can leak...

Dishwasher tablet does a great job of cleaning up a gunked up washer system too!

Sorry you are having the issue. However, I've been using Rain-X products since the early 80's, back when it was an application you put on the windshield. (That was an effort) The moment they had a product that could be added to the washer fluid, I started using it. Next, they produced a branded washer fluid good for summer bugs and winter slop. I love the stuff! My 2018 Q7 with 138k miles, has had no issues with fluid systems. Honestly, I have never heard of Rain-X being the culprit in any washer fluid system. In the early days, there was some arguement that the manual application to windshield, if allowed to wear down some, caused a hazey film with wipers, hard to see in night time rain.
