I used fuse number 6, I believe it is. Labelled "lights".
I only used it because it comes on when you turn on the headlight switch. I pulled the fuse, and it only appeared to affect the climate control backlighting. Nothing else. 
I just soldered one of the gauge light wires to the back of one of the fuse blade clamps in the back of the fuse box, and simply mounted the other wire to a grounding point. That way I could still use the fuse for its normal purpose.
