Is there a way to increase the output of the red LED lights?
Iled = (Vsupply - Vled) / R
Iled is your desired forward current...
Vsupply is the input voltage to the LED Resistor combo as measured from end to end. Vled is the nominal forward drop of the LED which will be about 1.2~1.5 volts depending on the process (semiconductor doping). This figure increases with higher and higher forward currents...thus increasing the dissipation and hence temp of the LED die.
The resistor value should be lowered to increase current (brighter) and raised to lower it (dimmer) if you couldn't intuit that from the R term being in the denominator ;-)
