Will removal of cats on a 2.8 A4 provide additional power?

Simply put, if I remove both cats and the mid muffler from the car, will I gain any HP? Is it possible to damage anything by running the car without thouse parts?

Disclaimer: I am not reffering to cats that go meow and I know that my car will not comply with emission laws if I do what is mensioned above

yes, but you won't pass state emissions tests (if you have them).

You will lose a lot of bottom/mid end torque for a very slight gain at the high end.

Not worth it on normally aspirated street cars.

Any idea on how much hp I'll get? Just want to know if its worth it for the track...

I think that I could do it in the summer while I track the car, and then put it all back in place for the winter, or between track sessions.

I think that I may be able to join the pipes without welding. That will allow for quick installations. If gains are adequate, then it may be worth it to spend and hour under the car before track.

So how much HP can I gain by removing all except the exhaust?
