ECU and check engine light question......
are engine malfunction codes stored in the ecu itself? for example, my car has a check engine light for "evap. emissions control system- small leak". if i take my ecu out and put it in another car, will that code trigger the other cars MIL too?
i dont think that this code is APR chip-related, but can anybody confirm or deny?

It will only trigger a DTC if the system reports a leak to the ECU. If you have no leak and put in a
different (stock or otherwise) ECU it won't have the DTC in it. Similarly, if you clear the chipped ECU's DTCs and have repaired the malfunction it won't reappear. And no it isn't a chip related DTC ..
