Default Blind spots galore... Mirror replacements?

I've got about 700 miles on my new S4 and I'm loving it, BUT one thing that really bothers me are the blind spots in this car. The side mirrors are almost worthless when a car is to the left of you, right on your tail.

Has anyone tried the replacement glass set on http://www.lltek.com/catalog_05.htm (under NEW MIRROR DEVELOPMENT)? I don't want to replace the entire mirror housing, etc, I just want new glass. And, best of all, it's DIY.

Any opinions on this replacement? Has anyone done it with the stock S4 mirrors? Thanks a million.

Default Be sure to adjust your mirrors properly...it helps...

you should just barely be able to see the edge (i.e., it should occupy about 1% of your mirror's image) of your car in your side rearviews; it won't get rid of the blindspot, but it will make them smaller.

Default Re: Blind Spot Mirrors (m)

I bought a set of blind spot mirrors from an Audi dealer in the UK a few weeks ago - the site is listed below. The mirrors are featured on the front page of the site.

They are GREAT! Best $100 I ever spent on a car.
I can see two lanes on either side...really helpful her in nocal.

The mirrors are audi euro part numbered and are a pop-off, press-on replacement (10 min install, both sides). They retain the heat/defog function, but do not have the auto-dim feature. This was fine with me because while I like the auto-dim on the interior mirror, I did not like it on the side mirrors.

Price was about $100 (99.xx)delivered for the pair...exact amount depends on f/x when your cc is charged. They shipped from Kent on a Friday & I received them in CA on Tuesday. Martyn is their export guy.<ul><li><a href="http://www.partsforaudi.co.uk/">http://www.partsforaudi.co.uk/</a</li></ul>

I guess I'm just used to the much larger mirrors in my old Integra. I'll have to play with the Audi mirrors a bit, but I still think they could be far better.

Default I had a demo SAAB 9-5 for a couple of days with the '2 stage mirrors'

Loved it during the day as I had a better view behind me. (I still think it's no substitute for checking the blind spot with a quick glance over your shoulders) However I disliked the night time characteristics as I would see lights beside me and I could not (over 2 nights of use) figure out which lane the car driving on. I couldn't tell if the car behind me was 1 or 2 lanes away from me. It actually messed me up for night time driving. Also are you willing to lose the autodimming feature?

Default euro mercedes have...

I just rented a 2000 Mercedes C-class in Switzerland, and after two weeks I decided the best thing about the car was the two stage side mirror, with auto dimming. Maybe the US cars have this also... if not they should! It's one ungrade I would spend $ for on my S4, but not if I have to lose the autodimming capabilities. Also the merc mirror didn't have a line through the middle like the LLTek mirror. That might get annoying.

Default I have mine tilted WAY out... I have to crane my neck a good ways to see that side of my car.

By having them way out, you completely remove any previous blind spot.
