Results of my recent dealer service...CEL etc...
They confirmed that the CEL was from a misfire and claimed it must have been due to carbon buildup so they cleaned the injectors. This reaffirms what people were telling me here on AudiWorld that the CEL was most like due to my multiple cold start/stops the day I detailed it but didn't drive the car for a couple days, which explains why the engine stumbled for a few seconds the next time I went to start it.
In other minor news, they finally replaced the spiral spring in my steering column, and believe it or not, the creak is gone! We'll see if that continues to be the case though as put some miles on the car.
Lastly, I had noticed the last time I washed the car that the sideskirt on the passenger side was loose. When I told them about it they were like "huh, the rocker panel is actually loose?". They seemed surprised, but sure enough they found it was loose so they tightened everything up.
All in all, things worked out fine. Had a new (well, 4000 miles or so) A4 1.8T loaner for the day. Real nice car for the money I think. Engine is pretty noisy though. I don't think I could deal with the manual seats (no lumbar!) and stuff like that though, so I'd have to ante-up for the 3.0 to get some of the fancier features (not to mention the more powerful engine) if I was in the market for one. Obviously no comparison to the ///S4 though. Still trying to talk a few people I know into getting Audi's.
Later.
btw, I too am experiencing a CEL... but on the vag it states that I have several misfires in several cylinders.
did they replace your MAF?
Mass Air Flow sensor. Some cars have the bosch unit while other have a hitachi unit. The bosch is know to have some problems, so I suspected that it might be a problem.
but if it is carbon build up in the injectors, it could also cause a problem like this.
i will have to go in for check.
