I drive a 2.7T also, it was quiet until about 4000 miles on the odometer when it started making a power steering related whining noise. It only does this at slow speeds, less then 10 mph when turning the wheel, but it is truly obnoxious and will go into service as soon as possible. Btw, I drive on the stock Dunlop 9000s, upon which I just noticed a bubble forming in the sidewall of one of the fronts when making my pre-flight walk around. I have not so much as tickled a curb or hit any pot holes. The tires are at the recommended pressure for expressway driving with two passengers, **** luck I guess
It has also developed a loud whirring that gradually spools up when the climate control is switched on. It is very noticable and seems to come from the fan mounted forward of the radiator. Once spooled up, the whir seems somewhat tied to engine RPM, which suggests to me that it is tied somehow to alternator output.
Otherwise, it is an awesome car!
