Hard wired a Uniden....

Last Sunday my Father and I went and hard wired my Uniden in to my A6. I have got to say that it was very simple and friendly and I got it so no wire showed at all except at the detector itself. I followed the useful instructions of someone on this forum possibly April, so thanks. I also am going to hard wire the V1 I got for my Mom (for mothers day) in her A8. She is going to love it. Thanks everyone for the excellent information provided on a great install.

Just out of curiosity which fuse slot did you use? (more)

I removed the #27 fuse and wired my V1 in there. A few days later my radio buttons stopped working (they had worked ok for about 3 days). Right now I have both my V1 and the #27 fuse "mashed" in the same slot and they both work. I haven't tried a fuse "tap" as someone advised on this forum. I'm curious how you did yours.

I used fuse slot #27 also

which I thought was labeled nav and steering wheel heat. I have neither so the slot was empty. It's was perfect since it is a switched source. Used a spade type connection which plugged in snuggly. No wires in sight and I mounted it in the left top corner of the windshield (screen), just below the tint. It is out of the line of sight and out of the way. Put a talking Bel 850 something in (couldn't wait for a mail order). Got shot with 2 lasers (state patrol cycle types standing side by side) 3 days ago on C-470 under Santa Fe for those in south Denver.
