Scratch on rim of 2.7t sport wheel. How best to fix?

Scratch on rim of 2.7t sport wheel. How best to fix?
Through stupidity, I managed to just "nip" a curb last night. Instead of just scuffing the tire sidewall, this mistake actually deeply scratched just the very outer edge of the wheel rim for about 1 inch.
I'm thinking that I should carefully sand the scratched area smooth and then try carefully dabbing a little silver paint on the "wound."
Any other ideas/suggestions?

Please advise as to how your wheel repair looks. I too have a scratch on of my A-6's wheels but I fear making it worse.
