Brand new SHAKING A6
I got my brand new A6 Avant 2,5TDI 180HP Quattro for only 4 weeks ago.. The problem is that there is a small vibration in the whole car. I can say with 95% certainty that it's NOT the wheels.. They have tried to balanced the wheels for 4 times, and the shakeing at 80-90 km/h is still there. I have spoken with the dealer again, and they have addmitted that they have had a this problem with many A6 cars lately. The problem was probably a imbalance in the drive shaft, or tensions in the wheel suspension! My car ahs been like this from the very first kilometeres, and has been like it all the 4 weeks I've had it..
But the WORST of all is that the gut at the workshop couldn't promise me that the vibrations would dissapear completely after a repair - maby only from the stearingwheel!!! I couldn't believe what I just heard! Well.. If they can't fix it, I think they will have to take the car back!!
Any good advices for what I should do?

I have similar effects on my 4.2 - also in the same speed range (and sometimes even up to 110 km/h). It is more remarkable when the car runs slightly downhill (that means when the mass of the car tries to accelerate more then the engine does). I was told that this is related to the quattro drive train and there is not much to do... Since I got the car I have driven now about 20'000 km and the good news is that the situation has improved a little bit.
But it would be interesting to hear from others in this forum!

Sorry to hear of your problems, I just corrected my vibration issues (unrelated...they didn't put hucentric rings on my aftermarket rims).

I have a small update on the situation..
Yesterday the dealer tried another balancing of the wheels, but it didn't help this time eigther (it's the 5th time now!). Today the also puted on some new tires (at the same rims) to sees if that could help, but the shaking is still there, and it's still very powerfull. I told them I didn't want the car back before it was fixed this time, and they loaned me a VW Passat V6 TDI. They are now going to look for imbalance in the drive shaft, or tensions in the wheel suspension.
I'm getting more and more frustrated after spending $53.000 at a new car.. I wished I hadn't paied for it yet..

Needless to say, I am disappointed, considering that much of my travel will be at speeds in the range at which the car vibrates. I will follow up after I bring it in (and I WILL do that). Please keep this thread alive with other feedback on this problem.
