98 A6 vs. 00A6 Sound system difference
I had a 00 A6 as a courtesy car, I noticed that the mids and the highs were far crisper and the subwoofer didnt rattle as much as my 98 A6.
Both have the Bose trunk woofer.
I thought that the sound should be very close to being the same.
Is it something you think I can exercise the warranty for?

I have one of each and I agree with your assessment. I believe the 98 has version 1 of the bose and the 00 has version 3 or 4. Other than that, I don't have any additional info. Please let me know if you find anything out.

If your subwoofer is "rattling", that alone is cause for a warranty visit. Its mounting may be loose or the driver may be damaged. Differences in sound quality between the two cars that aren't attributable to defects probably won't be covered, though.<p>mpuzach
