2000 2.7T Fluttering/Vibration
I first noticed a fluttering in my 2000 2.7T within 1 week of purchase. This sensation is first felt through the accelerator pedal (which I am told is a wired one, i.e., not mechanically linked), but then can be felt in the seat and then the whole car. Not much sensation at all in the steering wheel. Flutter is sometimes accompanied by a faint groaning feel or sound - it's hard to tell which, feel or sound, due to its low frequency.
Problem occurs usually in one of 3 situations, all of which are at speeds > 50mph.
1) During frequent and alternating release and re-application of accelerator pedal pressure, e.g., in fast-moving heavy highway traffic
2) Upon release of accelerator pedal after having just come over a crest in the road and now traveling downgrade
3) After fairly lengthy, moderate (but not too heavy) acceleration upgrade.
Problem does not always occur in one of these 3 situations, but usually does.
Tires/wheels do not seem to be the problem because of its random occurence in relation to speed, road surface. Just doesn't seem like the wheel/tire problems I've experienced in the past.
