Multitronic Transmission...?

I read about it in the new Audi Magazine. It shows it in the A6 2.8. Do any of you know if it is going to make it to the other cars, (eg A6 4.2, A8..)? It is supposed to come to the U.S. in 2002. It's much faster than the normal auto and its even faster than manual, in 0-60 and mpg.

From what I read, it is going to be confined to the 2.8. This transmission can't handle the power (torque) of either the 2.7T or 4.2 engines.

I would be willing to bet that eventually it will be able to handle the torque!

I think the 2.7T and 4.2 will get a 6-speed Tiptronic in 2002. High-torque Multitronic long way off

For the time being Audi say that the chain used in the Mutitronic cannot take more than 300 Nm of torque, which is why they have offered it only on the 2.8 litre and lesser engines.
