Default Confusion about models 2.7T, 2.8

I'm confused a little about the A6 models (just got into the audi thing). What is the most common model, the 2.8? Does the 2.8 come in turbo, or is that only the 2.7T. I'm searching for an A6 manual and i'm not sure if i should be searching for an 2.8 or a 2.7t. 4.2 is completely out of my league. Thanks!

You would be surprised a 6 month old 4.2 is no more than a new 2.7.

Yes, but resale values for used cars have dropped recently.

Default For a manual, 2.7t is your best bet by far. A few 2.8s came with a manual for '99.

A lightly used 4.2 should be in the range of a new 2,7t, if you can find the combo you like.

Default Manual is available only in 2.8 and 2.7T models.

The 2.7T is the only turbo available. The 2.8 is now a 3.0 for 2002, and is a bit closer to the 2.7T in power. The 2.7T has a 6-speed manual and a more broad torque curve than the 3.0, but the addition of turbos means it has more parts that can break. Drive both and see what you prefer.

Default Anybody drive an 2.8?

I was wondering if anybody actually enjoys the 2.8? Ive been reading a lot about the 2.7 and 4.2, not much about the 2.8. I've read reviews about the 2.8 is that its a nice car, but it has a weak engine. I was wondering if this is true, and maybe it could be easily solved with a chip upgrade or engine mods.

Just remember, if you are seeking a manual tranny, you won't find a 4.2 so equipped on these shores

Default I enjoy my 2.8, it's under powered when compared to the 2.7 or 4.2..

but it has more power than my previouse car. I would mod it for more hp but
there is not much available. The chips I've seen only increas power by about
10 hp. There is a superecharger available but it costs to much and I don't want
to void my warranty.

Default I drive a 2.8Q and I like it........not a speed racer but adequate power...would I like more....yes.

but it has great highway passing power and since I always use the tip to manually shift, I have no problem with in traffic acceleration. I wouldn't take it to the track though or try to use it to race other (rice) cars (although they all try to race me), but it has all around good power, great looks, quattro for safe winter and wet driving and it is sold and dependable.
