3500 rpm vibration

I have had my 2000 2.7T A6 for a month now and have noticed that the engine is not as smooth between 3000 and 4000 rpm. Has anyone else noticed this?? Also anyone have any thoughts as to why Audi would choose to build a 90 degree V6
