Warning on mudflaps!!!
Sport/Xenon/Nav Plus/solar-sun-roof
I have installed the mudflaps on both the front and rear myself personally, and don't quite iunderstand your posting. Nothing that I did to install would suggest that any of the paint would come off, since the flaps go on with screws at the bottom, and clips at the top. And the screwsw either go into existing holes, or into the plastic portion of the wheel-well liners.
Where is your paint coming off? The flaps engage the painted portion of the body on only a very narrow edge, and the screws and clips attach on non-painted liner surfaces. Not that I don't beleieve your posting, but am haviong a difficult time trying to understand what, where, and how ANY paint would be affected by the use of mudflaps, if they are original Audi accessories, which mine are.
More details, please........Andras
BUT: As I said I removed them about after one year and where the edge of the flap hit the painting, the painting has nearly come of.
I donīt know if itīs the case on the rear wheels.
For how long have you installed your mudflaps??
Just take a look under them.
PS: Yes the mudflaps are original ones.<p>Chris 8.98 A6 Avant V6 TDI ~190HP torque ~400Nm

Andras, how long have the mudflaps been on your car? I know it is not easy to remove them (because of the locking top clip) but can you see whether your paint shows any signs of being rubbed off?
I am assuming that a number of peaple have installed them so I hope that they will come forward with more info on the subject matter.
Regards.
I've had them on for over 6 months, and have not needed to look if they are rubbing the paint off.
I am not disturbed by schocA6 comments, though, for as I said in my posting, there is only a very small area, vertical, where the mud flaps touch the paint. If sand and dirt get in there between the flaps and the paint, there MIGHT be some abrasion, but since I plan to keep the flaps on at all times, any such abrasion will never show. So what's to worry?
By the way, when I had a Benz, for which I traded UP to get the Audi A6, an independent dealer once showed me that sand, dirt and gunk (a highly technical term) gets between the chrome rub strips and the doors, and in the course of years abrades the paint, and causes rust pitting.
Now, are these two conditions analogous? Wow, what a stretch. I'm not sure that this slight rubbing on a small vertical portion of the fender (if in fact it does it to all vehicles) is worse than all the debris that is kicked up by the tires, front and rear. For sure you will have to have those rocker panels refinished without the mudflaps, but with the flaps you may NEVER have to refinish anything.
But then, perhaps we should all leave our babies in the garage, for that way we can avoid EVERYTHING that all the people on this BB write about. But then we're not living, are we? All of life has it's risks. We just try to stay ahead of the major ones, recongnizig that the minor ones are like mosquitoes on a midsummer's night. perhaps irritating (no pun intended), but certainly not cataclysmic..........Andras
