FrontTrak price? plz plz help.
I shouldn't charachterize the salesperson's attitude when the conversation turned to money,
but he said $500 off MSRP for 2001. They
are "coming through" with leather, sunroof.
This sounds high to me. Do you know what
a legitimate deal is on this?
Thanks a lot.
Alec

Ok, the salesperson was aggresive, matter of fact (.), and rude. He said [if you don't like it] "...go back to buying Japanese cars." At no time did I suggest that I wanted it for invoice. He just took something I said twisted the knife-- in that traditional salesperson way of going the extra mile to be offensive.
For you FrontTrak fans (hi Charlie!) $500. under MSRP was $1,958. more than invoice + $1500.
leather + sunroof package plus head air bag.
Thanks mpuzach.
Alec
Print out the information and walk in to the dealer with it, and let your salesperson know that you HAVE the information. (BTW, you may want to insist on talking with a different sales person!) Make them a fair offer based on the invoice price. I'd probably start by offering $750 - $1000 over invoice, with the understanding (with yourself) that you'll go somewhat higher. I really believe that a final deal of $1500 over invoice (plus taxes, license, & fees) is fair to you and the dealer. My hunch is that if you go in and show them that you've done your homework, and show them that you're willing to pay a fair price, they'll agree to the deal.
Good luck!

I've bought two new cars recently, one for myself and one for someone else because I knew how. I got both at invoice. I've seen dealer scams-- both made up fees and dealer add ons- I've walked,
and the rest of it. I appreciate your advice.
What a great introdution to the Audi World Forums!
Thanks.
Alec
My deal was made in southern Pennsylvania. I would imagine that the price goes up the further south you get because demand for Frontraks might be greater. My dealer also said that Frontraks make up only %15 of A6 sales in the US. European proportion of Frontrak sales are significantly greater, on the order of %50 or more.
Charlie
