1000 Report-Engine Knock Help Needed.
Well, I just hit 1,000 mi on my 2.7T. I've gotta say, this is the greatest car I've ever had. Just two problems, the headliner buzz and... engine knock.
I've only used Amoco premium, and when I floor it, I get this really annoying clacking. Sounds like engine knock (tappet noise) but, how can this be? Should I bring it in for a service call??

Try changing gas brand and /or station. I use Mobil 93 octane -
never had knock with two 2.7T vehicles using this gas!! IF changing does not remedy situation suspect defective knock sensor(s). I believe car should run OK using regular gas - loosing performance, not knocking.

Switch brands...
In my old S-10 Blazer Amoco would ping, but other brands did not. I've been happy with Conoco gas, no pinging on any of my vehicles. If it continues with other brands, have the dealer check it out.<p><img SRC=http://home.earthlink.net/~gstahara/Graphics/Coloraudi.jpg Border=0></a>
