Brake noise
Since you guys no everything about Audis, I'm hoping you can help me out. I remember reading here about brake problems (I think it was usually on new cars that were sitting for awhile before delivery), but I think this may be different.
I have a '98 A6 quattro. When I'm stuck in heavy traffic and my foot is mostly on the brake, I hear a loud groaning noise when I ease up on the brake pedal to move forward a bit Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks in advance.<p>IndieA62.8

Almost every car I've ever driven has done this. Normal as far as I know.

Isn't it just the disc brakes? (more)
i thought it was just the disc brakes half gripping on the disc, but just enough to let the idle force turn the wheel, thus the grip-loose-grip-loose moans...
am i right about this?

You know, I must be going crazy, because part of me thought this noise seemed very familiar and that I had heard/"felt" it before in other cars. But it seemed very pronounced the other day, and while sitting in traffic I started thinking if this was what I had read about on this board. I also pretty much only drive on weekends, so sometimes I "forget" :-) Thanks for the replies - I think it's normal too.<p>IndieA62.8
