2001 A6 vibes at 60-80 mph
I've read a few threads dealing with A6 vibration problems at 60-80 mph. But these messages also referred to aftermarket tires & wheels.
My new A6 2.7T seems to have this same vibration problem with stock wheels & tires. I took it back to the dealer the day after I picked it up, and the salesman didn't even bother taking it to the service dept. He just had some guy take out some air out of the tires, then that guy drove it a few blocks and said it was fine. Low and behold, when I get into the car and hit the highway, it was worse!
Is this a common problem? Have dealers been able to resolve it?
I'm taking it back this week to have the service guy check it out.

Just had same problem crop up after 10K service
At first I thought it was warped rotors, but I have since come to learn that it is likely a result of a bad tire balancing job performed during the 10K service. I'm going to take it back have have them do it again.

A suggestion...
I know Audi is supposed to cover it, but few car dealers balance tires as accurately as a good tire shop, and the tire shop will probably warranty it. This would probably fix the problem once and for all, and for less than the cost of one fill-up. If your wheels won't balance, you'll already have independent proof in hand when you go to Audi. Ask around to find a reputable shop.

Well lets put it this way, it has been over a year since my vibration started and I am in the middle of a lemon law claim. I am totally fed up with Audi and their negligence. My court hearing is not until November, but I have a mediation hearing on May 8, I assume Audi is going to try and settle this ridiculous problem. The only solution I have gotten from my dealer is to get a different car. Nice huh? My dealer and one of Audis experts swears that it is mud and dirt in the wheels, which is very hard to clean without putting the car on a lift. As far as I am concerned Audi has a bad wheel design, not my problem.
A little piece of advice get a lawyer, because the vibration may go away for about 4,000 miles but I can guarantee you that it will return. Audi has not offered me any help at all.

Hate to burst your bubble but it is not a tire balance problem. Believe me, I have been through this. After 6 trips to dealer, Better Business Bureau, 2 Audi experts, and now Lemon Law claim, Audi will not tell you what the problem is, except that it is not tire balancing. Good Luck
