Default Bottoming Out?

Unfortunately I kind of bottomed out going into a friends driveway. I was going slow, and I think the angle was just right to graze the bottom of the front of the car.

Does anyone know if the piece on the bottom of the front of the car is expensive to replace? (Is it a seperate piece or is the front all one big piece?) Is it worth it to replace? Do other people bottom out often?

Its not really a big deal, you cant see the scratches unless you get under the car, but it still bugs me cause the damn car is so new .

Let me know
Thanks

Default Did the same thing twice

Once on a drainage groove along the side of the road and once on the mouth of a driveway. That damn thing just hangs down too low right in front of the tires. The scuffs, like yours, are only visible laying on the ground, which I don't do often. I will get some touch up paint and cover it, but it's plastic anyway so I'm not too worried. Would bother getting it fixed or replaced, it'll just happen again. Just be careful on parking curbs, several have ripped the clips off backing up.

Default Definitely hangs too low, but is it plastic?

I definitely agree it hangs too low. It doesnt seem to serve any purpose other than to get scratched and make a nasty noise to scare the crap out of me and then **** me off Does it serve some aerodynamic purpose by any chance? Maybe I can get it removed...

Also, are you sure its plastic?

On the 01 2.7T, it feels like metal or fiberglass, like a part of the body, not like the plastic/rubber "protectors" you see on some low riding cars (Corvettes, etc.)

Thanks

Default It looks like it's a separate piece---some have said it is several hundred dollars to repair...

but those "clips" in front of the front wheels are definitely plastic. So far I have scuffed only one side, I'm trying to keep the driver's side perfect
Aerodynamics??? This big beast??? Maybe, but I'll give up 0.01 cd for another inch of clearance.
In Europe and everywhere else except N.A. that area is black, like most other cars which would make the scuffing easier to swallow, but the body color down there does look nice

get over it...I completely understand that you have a VERY nice car. But NOBODY gets under the front end bumper and looks if you have a small scatch. Trust me, I say this from experience!!! I

Yeah, it kinda hurts, but MOVE on and ride that awesome car for what it's worth. Don't let the small stuff get you down...
