3750 Miles and Have 2 Issues

Upgraded from a '99 2.8 to a '01 2.7T in early July. Love the car (turbo power!) but noticed two issues that are concerning/surprising: 1) at start-up and first 1/4 mile, engine has throaty,rumbling sound and 2) when warmed up, notice rough idle (but tach stay fairly stable) at stop lights. Normal "new car break-in" items that will go away or indications for service/potentially serious issues? Thoroughly enjoy the 'board!

Neither, just normal for the car.

I have had a 2000 2.7t and a 2001 2.7t both had the slightly rough idle but stable RPM. Doesn't seem to change with time but sometimes seems slightly more pronounced than others.

The rough idle disappears when I turn off the climate control system. My dealer says this is normal. Others here agree.

Rumble when cold = induction snout?

The ugly sounding rumble when cold is, I suspect, a damper in the induction system that causes the system to suck air from a warm place (used to be called the heat plenum). It lasts a very short period of time.

No service, unless you want to hear...

that its a normal warm-up sound. I've not had my car during the winter yet, so it will be interesting to see if the sound remains longer during warm-up.
