Default Tip gearbox jerk (revisit)...

So whats the consensus:
1. Are owners of '02 models experiencing the same low speed jerk/thunk/jolt issues of earlier models;
2. If you've had your control module replaced/updated, how long have you gone w/o probs recurring;
3. Do aftermkt Tip chips elim these low speed issues.
Finally, can Audi really believe this situation is normal w/o any reliability implications.

No issues with my 2002. Shift pretty quickly. Not like my buddies Lexus IS300.

Default My 2002 2.7T test drive did not reveal the "jerk" we've been talking about. (previously posted).

I am told that my transmission is due in on Tuesday and installation expected to be completed by end of day Wednesday. So more feedback then.

Default Not surprising! What model yr do you have? ...

Your narrative re; seq of events up tp 9K miles led me to believe you had a pre-2002 model. Correct? PS: any add'l detail info you can get out of your Service people re; solenoid valve seals, Tip modules/software updates, or other specifics I can communicate in my upcoming 2 yr Maint Service will be greatly appreciated by me and many others. Mine has a Nov 99 build date and the probs are "occasional" but dramatic when it happens. Thanks!

Default As mentioned before: 2001

2001, delivered March 2001. In one of my previous posts I mentioned the outcome of the Jan 7 shop visit (transmission replacement) and also had a test drive in a 2002 2.7T. Here's a recap.

I was specifically looking for the hard jerk upon acceleration from a rolling stop or after turns. In addition, I checked for the distinct hesitation from first to second in D , S and Tip mode. The 2002 has bearably less hesitation in D, much less in D and Tip mode, you decide the change points. Also no jerks in rolling stops and and turns.

When I next visit the dealership, I will ask for their test procedures for checking the solenoid valve.
