A6 disc breaks

Can anyone offer some instructions on changing the front and rear disc brakes pads on my A6 Avant. Are there any special tools required or helpful.

any thoughts or instructions appreciated.

I just painted my calipers this weekend it looks >

straightforward. There are two bolts on the back of the calipers to remove. The rattle clip comes off and you work the piston back. Goes back in reverse. If the backs are the same as my old Avant you need to work the pistons back with a tool for the piston. A needle nose pliers works too. Also I have been inquiring there are some aftermarket pads now available for our car. EBC green stuffs and Mintax is making a pad.

hey thanks alot.

I spoke with a parts guy who wants me to buy a compression tool for $40. you think its worth it?

I was actually thinking of painting the calipers too. they are rusted and look bad through the wheels. Did you use high temperature specific paint? Did you spray them? Did you prime them first? I am thinking of painting them red.

the following article describes changing pads. You need to follow it and remove caliper. Than take the rotor off (very easy) and reasamble, like article said.<ul><li><a href="https://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel2.shtml">here is the article</a></li></ul>
