Default 4.2 Day three.. Locking system burp?

Hi all. Anyone know what this means? I went to take my son to school this am and hit the unlock button on the key remote. It unarmed the alarm and opened the driver side door only! Repeated attempts with both the key and all inside buttons were innefective at opening other door locks. Son had to climb in driver side door. On the way I tried several times to activate the locks.. not even the drivers door would lock. Just as we got to school I tried the unlock button again and it now worked. Drove home, locked her up and all seems fine. What dooes one do about this?

Default Just a guess, but...

Did your remote ever unlock ALL of the doors???

You might want to check the manual, but there may be another way (with the button) to unlock all the doors. I'm not driving a 4.2, but I purposely had my mom's car alarm programmed to unlock ONLY the driver's side door -- for safety reasons.

Perhaps your alarm has also been programmed this way...

Default Ignore it for one week...if recurs bring it back...

or take a hammer to the engine...a few good whacks with a hammer can cure a lot of things...

Seriously...ignore it and see if it returns...it may, it may not.

Default Should be two "clicks" of the unlock button on the fob...

The first unlocks driver only. The second unlocks the others. Sometimes my 4.2 has small central lock fits. Once in a while, the unlock button will do nothing (although if I watch the lock "nubs" in the top of the door while hitting the fob's unlock button, they do wiggle a little). To resolve, I simply manually unlock the driver door with the key and then re-lock the car using the fob's lock button. It seems to get the fob and the locking system back in "sync", for the lack of a better word.

Default Ok. Will do. Another question about the temp gauge..

It seems to warm up awfully fast. is this common with the 4.2? The gauge shgows 'c' at startup in the morning but after only a few minutes is at center position where it stays. Even after 4 hours of sitting when I turn on the key it pops right to the center pos. is this normal? Thanx for the help..Newbie-itis..

Default That sounds odd. Unless the ambient is 120F or higher;-)

Even at 100F, when it's not on the C peg at startup my 2.7 takes nearly 5 minutes to get up to normal coolant temp. Oil temp takes even longer, of course.

Default you need to press on the unlock button again (meaning, twice)...it'll open up

everything, incl. the trunk.

it takes a lil' gettin' used to...

congrats on the new car! i'm just over the hill from you. (in northridge)

Default mine warms up after about 1-2min. after the...

rpm drops from its inital warmup mode, you can pretty much drive off. we don't need to warm our cars for 4-5min like the 'other' cars. you're just wasting gas that way.

we should hook up for some picture taking
