On Star only works with engine running?
As I sort thru all the features on my new 4.2 I activated the On Star system over the weekend. One of the cool features it has that I didnt know is that in acts as a cell phone so I dont need to get one put in even tho its wired for it. OnStar acts like a hands free fone does with the controls on the unit or the steering wheel. Tres kewl. It also acts as an emergency notification which in case of one you hit the button and it immediately sends police, fire, tow trucks and prolly the dog catcher.. All this is fine but it seems to only work when the engine is running. which kinda defeats the purpose.. if I have a breakdown and the engine dies, I cant call for help.. I have the AoA guys working on this but was wondering if anyone here has OnStar and if this is how theirs works? BTW. It was factory installed so this is how Audi seems to think it should be...

OnStar should work as long as there is battery power....
....you might have a problem.
Also, be very careful of that built in phone - the charges can be quite high and probably won't replace your hands free phone.....
