Repair question on 99 A6
I was wondering if you guys ever heard about this problem and wanna see if my local Audi dealer is full of it?
My car the other day wouldn't start. The car would crank but not turn over so I know it wasnt the battery. I took to my local dealer and they worked on it saying this for a diagnosis.
The engine was flooded due to the last time changing the battery(about 5 months ago) something wasn't reset on the internal computer of the car, in turn flooding the engine.
Anyways I know nothing about cars but it sounds fishy.
Any advice in this matter will be helpful.
Also looking for a good repair shop in LA..

There is a start up procedure in the user manual after changing the battery. Check that out.
Also, there is a known problem if you start the car for a very short time (like out of the garage for a car wash and back in) it can flood and cause the problem I think you are describing.

Hi, I had the problem rruby described. I started my 1998 A6 and just moved it about 20 yards across the parking lot and stopped it. The next day it would start, cranked but wouldn't start. Had to have it towed to my mechanic (not Audi dealer but specializes in Audi). He said I'd flooded by starting/stopping it
like I did. After reading up on the net it seems it's a problem with many cars.

My 98 had the same symptoms you describe. the dealer thought it was the common "car wash" no-start problem & changed some parts out to correct it. In my case, it turned out to be the ECU that had gone bad, causing the car not to start every 6th or 7th time. My car WOULD start about 10 minutes after first refusing to start, or about the time it took the tow truck operator to get there.
