Just got a mid-scheduled-service dealer oil change on my 4.2...Jiffy-Lube? NEVER! Here's why...
<img src="http://www.savingssafari.com/GIF/0059.gif">
...but when it comes to V8 Audis, consider...
1) Oil drain plug is specially designed to accept complementary male "member" from socket wrench. Wanna bet Jiffy Lube high-school dropout "techs" will not be armed with the proper "member"?
2) 4.2 oil filter is COMPLETELY INVISIBLE, to my eye anyway.
3) Audi's V8 oil filter was a $37.00 part. Looks unlike any filter I've seen (longer, narrower cylinder) in my years of DIY oil-changing experience. Wanna bet the Jiffy Lube dudes...
a. Check their vast stocks and decide, "Dayum...we ain't got anything what looks like THAT BADBOY!"
b. Take your just-removed old filter...hose it off with solvent...reinstall as new... and charge you $18.00 ("Hey, man...it's IMPORTED...and hell, that's only HALF what the dealer'd get you for!")
c. Fill your windhield wiper reservoir with Hi-C berry-berry fruit punch, slap a Pennzoil sticker on your window (and oily fingerprints on your A pillar interior trim) finally handing you their "How'd we do?" questionnaire and sending you on your way with a heartfelt "Have a nice day... dude!"

(So...you were correct.)
