trading '00 S4 for 2002 S6, drove a A6 4.2 and....

I thoght the S6 "felt" alot faster although the raw numbers would not lead you to believe that. Interior was MUCH nicer, on par with the S4 but with alcantara headliner (very nice).

Did a search on making the S6 faster and came up empty for the most part. Any suggestions?

Also I need a recommendation for a lease company. I want to run it thru the business for max tax advantage. Pls help and I hope I don't start a war with the 4.2 guys. These are just my impressions of the 2 cars I drove.

With just over 1000 total S6 sent here, and about 3 times as many 4.2s

sent each year, there just isn't a big market for mods - at least ones that make a substantial difference but will cost a substantial amount.

The S6 not only has a thoroughly reworked engine and suspension, but also shorter gearing.

Isnt a supercharger for the 4.2's being developed though?

not much available for the S6... next step up is the RS6.

Do you need the extra space provided by the Avant?

I like the S6, but I personally don't need the extra space...so I'm perfectly happy with the 4.2.

Lookin' at the new A8's... those would appeal to me more than the S6 or even the RS6. (value-wise)

Yes. PES has been working on one for awhile .. Still not out yet however,..

When it does hit with a rumored hp gain of 100 or so the question becomes will the tiptronic in the 4.2's be able to handle the extra HP/Torque gains? If not it could be an expensive mod... Kinda makes your mouth water tho.. 8^)

Yes, my wife and I need some extra room and....

I found an '02 (wht with silver int) with less then 5000 miles for less than $50k.

The real question is whether it will be for the front mounted timing belt

older engines ( used in the old A8, the A6 4.2, and S6 ) or the new rear mounted chain driven timing gear of the new A8, Allroad 4.2, S4 and Touareg ? Substantially different engines.
