2.7T or 4.2 = S6?
The question I wanted to ask was, of the two models, the 2.7T and the 4.2, which would be easier to bring up to S6 specs, if possible at all. I understand the S6 and the 4.2 have much in common, such as the V8 and the body styling, yet many consider the 2.7T the most promising in terms of tuning. I know there ismuch more involved than just raw power when trying to emulate the S6, unfortunately since it's not offered here, one has to me concessions. Any opinions?

I think it depends...
on what's more important to you. If you want the performance of an S6, the 2.7T is more tunable, plus it has the 6 speed. If you want the looks, then the 4.2 might be what you want.
It will be nice if/when they bring over an S6. Then will have the best of both worlds. It won't be cheap though!

The S6 is a modified 4.2.
The engine in the S6 is a 4.2 V8 with wider cams and increased output to 340bhp. Autoweek had a piece on it a few weeks ago. The suspension changes are also described. I recall they also said the S6 has a manual trans. The body is identical to the 4.2. The post below that describes how a 2.7T can be tuned is true, but is incorrect about which car is easier to bring up to S6 specs. The answer to that is clearly and only the 4.2. See vwvortex.com for further info on the S6.

Do you really believe the 4.2 is easier...
and cheaper to bring up to S6 specs? You may not get 340 HP out of a 2.7T, but it would be close. Plus the fact that a 4.2 is only available with Tiptronic. You may want to reconsider which car is easier to bring to S6 specs.
