It enables the injectors to flow more fuel without increasing the injector size.
This enables the injectors to operate in their optimal duty cycle range (generally < 85% or so) or less. More fuel available = more power available.
The ECU MUST be programmed with the appropriate injector timing to go along with the increased fuel pressure. Generally, this is done to save you the expense of replacing all of the injectors.
With most K04 kits you receive RS4 injectors with adapters (the RS4 injectors are physically smaller) or equivilent flow injectors of the same physical size as the original injectors.
