2001 or later turbo failures?
When I went in to this lease, I had my mind set on turning it in at the end of its term, and getting something new. Now I'm starting to think in the direction of keeping the A6 for my other half to use as her daily driver, and getting a 2006 S4. This has me feeling a little bit of buyer's remorse about not getting the 4.2, which I perceive as less likely to eat itself.
So, have any 2001 or later A6 owners been paid a visit by the turbo lady? Thanks in advance.
This is the first car I've had that didn't leave me looking towards my next car within the first few months of ownership. I was really gun-shy about long term car ownership after tearing up a tranny in a '99 Acura TL with only 30k on the clock (common problem on those cars, as it turns out), so I decided to go with a lease this time around. After almost a year of living with this car, I can easily see myself enjoying it over a longer term than 42 months. I'm also beginning to realize that reducing my committed burn rate would be a good thing, as financial stability becomes about more than just taking care of myself.
My monthly payments are higher than they could be, due to buying 17Kmiles/yr, but my payoff seems low at ~$21K. All in all, the numbers look very nice to me for buying the car at the end of the lease. The only other thought I had in mind was picking up a used '02 or '03 A6 4.2 towards the end of my lease, but my only real motivation for that would be the reliability factor.
Pray for our turbos, now, and while at WOT. :-)
My point is if you are going to purchase your car, bargin with the lease holder they do not want cars back.
