Well doesn't stick out is a problem. I have a VDO that matches the stock gauges (text) and the(edit)
lighting for the center console (red). I tried without any filter on the light, but it is too yellow to match our dash. If one were so inclined (I may be in the future) you could wire up a white LED.
It is mounted on the far left side of the dash behind the ridge in the molding and next to the pillar. I like the way ti looks, but it certainly doesn't look integrated. The upside is it only cost about $80 for everything. A few places have it, but I got mine from egauges.com:

You will need:
240-101 mounting cup
150-121 gauge
150-851 tubing kit
A t-adaptor (5/32x5/32x5/32") from pep boys and some extra vacuum tubing (3 or 4mm). I will have pics and more details sometime soon.
If you want a truly integrated solution, the only thing available right now is the FIS:
