Steering Noise Update . . .
P/S fluid was not low, and there were no leaks. The P/S pump was malfunctioning and causing air to get in the lines. My mechanic is going to install a new pump, flush the lines, replace the fluid, and change the serp belt while he's in there. Cost, $800.

I would consider just doing a fluid flush first and clean the filter
There is a very small screen filter on the resevoir, just pull the lines off and you'll find it....
You could try that first or just bite the bullet and change the pump.
