The airboxes in our cars (esp. turbos) are pretty well designed. Putting a filter in...

... an open area of the engine bay may actually reduce airflow, and will suck in hot, engine-bay air rather than outside air. If you look at the intake snorkle, there are probably things you could do to get more airflow into the airbox.

i dont know about the 2.7 but the 2.8's airbox has 2 90 deg turns, and 1 180 deg...and i tiny scoop

The twists and turns aren't good, but a long intake tube means more low end torque.

Yes EVOS

I picked one up on ebay for under a $100.00. Alot of the S4 guys use this one. It has a great insulated panel. It makes some cools sounds on acceleration but as for increased performance, I doubt. Looks the filter element would take alot of beating for the elements. I just drive my AUDI in the fair weather.
