Whats the point of having cold air intake when a turbo makes the air a bazillion degrees anyway?

Default Certainly...

I have some concept drawings for a CAI that I think would work well. Just too busy to follow through with it.

Default how?

say your sucking in 80 degree air and the turbo makes it 900 degrees.

so your cold air makes it 65 degrees. the turbo makes it 875?

im not saying im not wrong, but please explain how, if i am?

Default I am working on it.....

I have a plan to divert the cold air from the A/C into the engine air intake. Can't get much colder than that!

Default Well, for one thing...

Intake tempreature and exhaust temperature are entirely different. An intake charge @ 80 degrees is entirely different than an intake charge temp of 900 degrees. You're not sucking 900 degree air into your intake. If you were, your car wouldn't run, the gasoline/air mixture would prematurely ignite every time, causing detonation which would quickly destroy the engine. So don't get EGTs and IATs confused, that's your mistake.

Default The AC is run by a belt...

Which robs the engine of power due to parasitic loss/friction. I seriously doubt that the improvements to be had from piping cold air into the system in this manner are greater than the power lost by running the AC full blast in order to do this in the first place. But hey, give it a try and see what happens.
