Default Lower Control Arm (front driver's side) question...

When I was getting a new CV Boot installed, I noticed that the rubber bushing/boot on the lower front control arm joint cover was cracked & had leaked some grease. I re-greased that whole area for now. In the meantime, to fix this issue, do I need a whole new control arm or do they sell just those rubber boots. Steering and alignment feel perfect.

The problem is that you need to replace both arms, kinda pricey! Wondering if I can get away with just replacing the ball joint boot/cover...if they even make one.
Thanks.

Lower control arm on my A6

Default You need a new arm and lucky for you there is a service action/recall

that wont cost you anything. Call the dealer to check if your covered and also be prepared to show them service records. Why I dont know but they are asking.

Default I just called the Audi dealer, service department...

...and they asked for my VIN. They said that the only recall for my car is:
JC - Throttle Body something...
LH - Fuel tank seal.

No mention of control arms. My buddy got both arms replaced under recall for his 1999 A4 2.8Q.

Should I just try a different dealer?

I was denied on my 99.5 A6 avant, just a few days ago. What gives?

Default Update: Need to replace both control arms...

...to do it right, followed by an alignment. Since the frame is not touched by this, a regular Hunter alignment machine will do.

The part lists at $190 for both pieces & I haven't seen them any cheaper than $185 shipped (GPR Parts).

0.5-1.0 hour labor depending on your mechanic/shop. Pretty straightforward to DIY if you have an impact wrench.
