2000 A6 HOT!! Under the hood

I have noticed that even after short drives, the engine is quite hot. Even after cooling down my car for 30 mins after a short 10 min drive, its so hot under the hood, it feels like the plastic is going to start melting! Is this normal? Guages don't indicate higher than normal temps..

Normal. I can keep my garage at room temp in winter after a decent drive.

which engine? 2.7T... that's normal... one it's a cast iron block

two.. it's twin turbos!! it's gonna be really hot.. but fear not... nothing will melt.

Mine's just the 2.8 NA,, no turbos here. But, if you guys on this board are telling me not to worry, then I will defer to your expertise.
