Fuel Delivery Problem - Audi 100 (A6) 2.0E 1993 (
My problem is the car will not start. It turns over and fires as its cranking but the engine just will not run. The fuel pump seems OK, but could it be a relay - could it be operating but faulty?
Fuel pressure regulator?
ECU?
ECM? (Does it have one of these as well?)
Is it a sensor somewhere?
After that theres the fuel injection unit, could it be something electrical or electronic inside that? What if I took it apart, I'm quite good at working things out unless they're sealed units or electronic.
Any advice you can give wd be much appreciated. If anyone wants me to call them to discuss this rather than type a suggestion, I'd be very happy to. Does the pump run at all? have an assistant listen for it..
you might also want to check the injectors for fuel. pull the plugs out, check the condition of them, check for actual spark. You will smell fuel if you try to crank the engine with teh plugs out.. if you do NOT smell fuel, either, you have a blockage, the pump is not running, or, for some reason, the ECM is not opening the injectors (I'm assuming that the 2.0 in that car has EFI?). The FPR is mechanical on EFI cars, when they fail, they let too much fuel in, not too little.
